I'm Proud to Participate in #AuthorsAdopt2020 in Support of Frontline Health Care Workers Battling COVID-19
Usually, on Mother's Day, I post a picture of my kids along with words of gratitude for those crazy little monkeys, gratitude for my own mother and grandmothers and gratitude for the two surrogate moms I inherited by marriage: my amazing MIL, Kathy, and my Aunt Pam.
Today, I'll post a different gratitude, for all the mothers who are working on the front lines of the COVID crisis, taking care of all the mothers who are sick and who can't be visited by and comforted by their own loved ones—the mothers who are taking care of so many people and not seeing or being able to hug their own mothers and their own kids.
Motherhood isn't about blood. It's about caring. It's about taking care of every person as if they were our own. Because every person IS our own. That's the biggest truth.
I'm proud to be part of #authorsadopt2020. I'm proud to be giving back in some tiny little way to all of those who are caring for us right now. Last night, I signed books and put together pretty pink packages for five AMAZING health care workers who could use a little romance in their lives right now. Thanks to all of you.
P.S. Thanks to Penny Reid for organizing and coordinating. The experience has been magnificent!
